Hack Your Way to Increased Fertility: Using Taoist Meditation to De-stress

Everyone and their mother knows now that meditation can help you de-stress and feel better. Taoist meditation, originating from China thousands of years ago, is more of a philosophy than anything else, a philosophy based on Lao Tzu and his observations of nature. Tao actually translates into “the way” and shows us how to flow in harmony with nature for better understanding of life, more connection and healing. How can Taoist meditation help you hack your way to increased fertility?  Simple. When your nervous system is overworked, overwhelmed with too much information, too many tasks, or too much pressure (whether self-induced or from work, a spouse, “society” or the pressure to hurry up and get pregnant) it shuts down. The few things that the body does not need to do when it shuts down is to have a memory, and have a baby. Those are things the body can afford to give up in order to re-coup the energy lost during the day, or when stress, long term or short term. While small amounts of stress can be motivating, chronic stress or intense stress can be damaging.

The more you put into meditation, the more you get out of it. It takes some effort to carve out 10 minutes a day, but you will re-coup that easily and even more by being more calm and efficient in your day, and happy knowing you are increasing your chances of conception. If you can carve out 20 minutes, your body gets past the relaxation phase and into the healing phase, both for brain and for body. The studies coming out of universities like Brown and Harvard show that even two minutes a day of meditation can start to re-wire your brain for relaxation and healing, calming the central nervous system. Going for a full 30 minutes has even more effect, building up reserves and enhancing your energies, even increasing your libido and therefore increasing your chances of conception, and in more ways than one.

The best thing about it is you don’t need to drive on the 405 to meditate, you don’e need to sign up for a class on Groupon, and you don’t need to spend any money. Have five minutes? Sit down, shut up and breathe…black & white woman relaxing
